Historical Climate Data
Historical climate data captures the world as it was before significant climate change. Historical climate data generally refers to the 1960s to 2000, though some data sets may extend a few years earlier or later. For each hazard, the sources of historical climate data must be captured before climate change projections are applied. Historical climate data covers weather parameters such as temperature, precipitation and wind. Most historical climate data come from government agencies such as meteorology bureaus, science research centres and land and marine data services. Institutional research and data sources are presented in Institutional Research and Data Sources. The time series available for each weather parameter depends on its age and the quality and consistency of its records. Not all parameters will have adequate data at all locations on Earth.
