What is the significance of the metrics (MVAR, HRP, PL)?

Maximum-to-date Value at Risk (MVAR%) is an indicator of the overall exposure and vulnerability of the company asset base to physical risk from extreme weather and climate change.  An individual asset with MVAR% in a given year over 0.2% is of concern, while those over 1% are at severe risk. This indicator is a good way to compare company climate risks positions on a like-for-like basis.

High-Risk Properties as a percentage (HRP%) flags to the company the percentage of the portfolio that has high risk in a given year. This is significant because while MVAR% is a good indicator of inidividual risk, a large proportion of a portfolio becoming uninsurable will have a significant impact on the balance of risk.

Productivity Loss (PL%) can be broken down by hazard or by country and for individual assets. Different hazards have different assumed outage times. Productivity Loss translate physical risk into operational impact on a company or portfolio.
